U.S. Rights Groups Launch Campaign Urging Congress to Act on Israeli Violations in the West Bank

WASHINGTON, June 10, 2026 (JNA Press) – Human rights organizations and activists across the United States have launched a lobbying campaign targeting members of Congress, calling for concrete action in response to escalating Israeli violations against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, amid increasing killings, arrests, and settlement expansion.

The campaign follows the killing of seven-month-old Palestinian infant Sam Fahd Abu Heikal in the city of Hebron, an incident that has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation among human rights organizations and advocates of Palestinian rights. Organizers say the case reflects a growing pattern of violence faced by Palestinians across the West Bank.

Campaign organizers have urged members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate to adopt stronger positions regarding settlement expansion and settler violence, while working to provide greater protection for Palestinian civilians. They argue that the current situation threatens prospects for peace and deepens the humanitarian suffering in the Palestinian territories.

The campaign also calls on lawmakers to oppose legislation that strengthens U.S.-Israeli military cooperation, impose sanctions on settlers involved in attacks against Palestinians, and publicly condemn the continued expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The initiative comes amid mounting international criticism of Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territories and growing calls from human rights organizations for more effective measures to protect civilians and ensure accountability for violations under international law.
